I have one problem regarding file opening whenever I try to open the file i get error as "solidworks error report" I have attached the snap . if you know the solution, please help your help will be appreciated.
That's a generic message that goes out any time SW closes unexpectedly (crashes). There's no way for us to diagnose the problem from just that. Does this happen only when trying to open a specific file?
Is this a new installation of SolidWorks? If so, does your computer meet the minimum requirements to run SolidWorks? You can check that here SOLIDWORKS | Hardware & System Requirements | SOLIDWORKS
If it's a problem that has only just started happening suddenly, have you done any upgrades or updates lately?
Could the file be corrupted perhaps?
Is it an actual SW file or a file imported from another program?
Its not for specific file for all the file which we try to open.
@Dave Bear The System was restored on 2-jan-2017 and from that time on wards its showing this error whenever we try to open the file.
Windows was restored or SolidWorks was restored?
Have you tried to do a repair on the SolidWorks installation?
If you go to your Windows Uninstall Programs section, go to the Solidworks 2017 ... program, click Change.
you can do a change or repair of the installation.
If you had done a Windows Restore and the restore point was old or other changes had been made since that restore point was created, those settings would be gone and SolidWorks may be missing something it needs.
Doing a repair (or change) should correct that if the files have not been removed.
Its probably a corrupt file and you can send it to your var and see if they can fix it.
@Tony Cantrell Thanks! for your help
@Dave Bear Windows was restored
@Rick McDonald Thanks for your help, I shall check with user at client location and I shall let you know.
Due to the fact that it has happened since you have restored Windows, I would suggest that you make sure you have a current backup of your SolidWorks settings (Using the Wizard) and then do a complete clean re-install.
@Dave Bear Ok Dave! Thanks for your help.
Rick ,Can you please tell me is this problem have anything to do with EPDM administration or this problem is within application only.
There is no way for anyone to tell with the information that you have given.
Does SW open if you just click on the SW icon?
If yes, can you create a part, drawing and/or assembly and save it locally on your system?
If you can save it locally, can you reopen these without the error?
If all that works then try opening a part from EPDM.
If that does not work, then it seems more likely to be something to do with files from EPDM.
It could be that after your reinstall that your permissions to EPDM are no longer linked properly.
I do not use EPDM so I am only guessing about this.
Process of elimination as you've correctly mentioned Rick.
