As other users have shared with you, it cannot be done. The
system is designed to allow users to work collabortively. For
example, I can have two designer working on different parts within
a common assembly and if one user changes a part the other user
knows that someone else is working on the file and can update the
file once it is checked back into the vault.
You actually have three points of access control: 1) control
at the project level , control at the lifecycle status level, or
user level control based on the value of a variable.
My company is currently trying to establish some guidlines
for the vault. One aspect we would like to implement is that when
someone takes ownership of a document, only the owner (and, perhaps
admins) have ANY access to that document...No one else should be
able to view it while someone has ownership. Can this be
done?
