How do I get dash numbers to come through to BOMs in assembly drawings
Where do you want these "dash numbers"? Do you mean the balloon numbers?
I think this is the same question I asked a few months ago. And yes, I want the dash numbers to be reflected in the balloon numbers. I have sub-assembly BOMs that I'd like to use item numbers with dashes in them. The BOM will only allow numbers. Not alphanumeric item numbers. So instead of using 1-01 for the 1st item in sub-assembly "1", I am using 101. If I am forced to, I could probably add a column to the left of the item number for the assembly number and start my item numbers at 1 (not 101). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Please see my original question. I am actually using SW2017 SP1.0 now.

Why not use the property Part No and put your dash number there and use that custom property for the item no.
Some of my parts are used in other sub-assemblies so that would be confusing to the other users. It would be great if all of my assemblies were self-contained. Unfortunately, not the case.
Great suggestion! I wonder if that would work for Mel?
You can create configurations within the assys, and add descriptions within the properties of the config's, then use these in the BOMS.
Thanks Vladimir. I will give that a try, but like I said previously, the parts are used in other machine assemblies. We'll see how it goes!
