i need some help with this please
i need to make rib between two cylindrical surfaces..and it always gives me error
can i do sth to fix this?
Here is one done with the rib feature. May not be what you are looking for but is open for modification.
Pictures or files would help, till then we're on the same page as you - "what am I supposed to do" - SW is trying to tell you the rib doesn't intersect with the cylinders, so can you extend the sketch or change the design intent on your sketch???
the rib should be with these dimentions between the parts
so, the rib feature doesn't use a closed loop. Try using the flip material side.
doesnt give me sth
its kinda what you made...but how you did this ? i cant understand
A single line on the center plane of the cylinders and using the rib tool as I've described.
You can change your sketch by adding additional lines where the red lines are showing or extrude and unclick the merge box and then select the inside faces and add a sketch there and extrude up to surface which would be one of the cylinders, this would take more features then just manipulating the sketch...
if i use extrude it wont be a rib.. and when i ll make drawing from this part..the section view would be wrong
this is the part i have..if you want to see it from more views
That would be a casting and I would draw the shape of the rib and extrude it to the thickness you need then pick the ends and add a sketch and extrude up to the cylindrical surface - one at a time....
what sketch should i add to the edges? and as i said if i extrude it, it wont be a rib...
Follow Steve Calvert instructions - then you'll get what you need
Click the normal to sketch button and see what happens.
tried that already.. didnt work
This does not work because geometrically you are creating something that topologically can not be created. If you uncheck "Merge" (that is if you are doing a simple mid plane extrusion) you will see why. The simple solution is to simply offset the edges of the sketch that are tangent to the cylinders into the cylinders a bit.
when i do the simple solution i also get an error for open profile
I know you want to use the rib feature, but it would be a separate part not? Why not use the simple boss extrude?
it would be sth seperate but i need to deliver the views as drawings with section views...when i use section view to the extruded part the program draws lines to it, but this should not happen because its a rib
Is the part a plastic part or a weldment?
If it is a weldment then you would have a separate part and that would show part split lines
check this out...
