Can I do a vault search for just a project folder?
I just tried it and it seems to work. If you do a find/search and use the project name in the "document" field.
Confirmed !!! Please mark Jeff's response as correct answer
Yes but we also use the project name as part of the document file name; i.e. XXXX_grill. So if I filter document I get everything the has "XXXX" in it.
Was hoping to filter only project.
You can use advance search, see below image, with condition "does not contain" and select a value which is only used for file, then your search basically is narrow to folder (project) only
Sorry, I don't quite follow.
Since you use project name as part of the document name so you have issue with filtering the project name for searching
The project and document names have the same name but their properties are different.
So to filter the project name for searching, you can use advance search and select the property
In the image in my previous post, "preliminary" is a document's property and it I opted "Does not contain", so when I search, all document names is skipped
For this to work doesn't all my files have to contain the property "preliminary"?
Depend up on your setup. I use "Preliminary" for document's life cycle. But you can select any document property
I don't think I have anything with a default value I can use in this scenario.
Can you capture a screenshot and post here as the below image
Please select "status" and post a screen shot or let me know what you see in the "value"
Here is a screenshot from mine
I have nothing listed as value for status.
can you click on the arrow to show the list
I did, there is nothing there.
I see - seems like you don't have lifecycle setup on your Vault
How's about "release for production" - is it a document's property?
It is a doc property but has not values listed.
are you admin or just a user?
You can add multiple lines to the search with the AND/OR criteria. So as Christian Chu suggests you could search for "Document" Starts Wtih xxxx then add AND "Document" does not contain yyyy. This should help reduce the search return.
You can use Daen Hendrickson suggestion to eliminate all SW files (see below image) or you, as an admin, can access to VaultAdmin to add document properties such as lfiecycle so you can use it to filter the search
Sorry, I must be missing something or having a bad day!!!!!
can you double check from mine setup here
or you can try
This doesn't seem to work for me, I get the same results with or with out the "is not".
Please confirm with the setup you have
it only happens to few files or all of the files
as it happened to me (only few files, not all)
By the way, if you are admin, can you add lifecyle and try as what I showed in the previous post to see if it works for you?
