Since the body is all filled up from inside and converted to solid, you may have to roll the features back and then add the surface trim.And then you would have to add more features to make it solid. All depends on what you need.

The one I want is like a combination of the one mentioned by Deepak and Solid Air. I want a rectangular hole like the one Solid Air made but I want it to be in the middle of the curved surface like the one shown in the figure presented by Deepak.
I tried to use Insert->Reference Geometry->Plane to create a plane tangent to the curved surface. Then, I drew a rectangular on this tangent plane. Next, I used Extruded Cut to cut a hole. At the end, although the preview looked OK, after clicking the green check mark on the new tangent plane remains. The rest of the model disappeared. How come?

I looked at the file you linked and did not see where you had made any attempt to create the geometry you describe.
Probably still not what you want (in middle of mouse, not curve); but hopefully you will get some ideas from it.

create a plane off-set from the base and then 'wrap' the cut from there??
I guess it depends on the body you're trying to cut. Is it a "Solid" of "Surface" body? If it's a surface body, as I think a few of us suspected, a solid type cut won't work. You'll need to do some kind of surface and cut the surface that way.

Can you offset the cut from one of your existing planes or create a new plane to perform the cut from?
