Piston, Piston Pin, Connecting Rod and Hub Pin all are mated. I want to make six copy of Piston, Piston Pin and Connecting Rod together. Is it possible to do so after mating?
Yes, select the components from your tree or screen then RMB and select "Form New Sub-Assembly here".
Mate the Piston, Piston Pin, Connecting Rod and Hub Pin all together in an assembly of their own, then insert them into the main assembly 6 times as a sub-assembly. That way you will only the have to mate the Hub Pin to the drive wheel and the 6 Pistons to each respective cylinder rather than each and every component individually.
I have taken Piston, Piston Pin, Connecting Rod and Hub Pin out and all are mated together in the assembly file. Is it possible to create a sub-assembly file from here?
I'm not sure Maha, I've never done it that way.......
I couldn't make it. I got this dialog box when I click OK it vanished that was the result.
I just tried a test run and it worked just like Tony said it would.
Are you sure that you selected the right things Maha? Because the dialogue box you've got would suggest to me that you have actually tried to move something instead..........
What is meant by "common parent"?
I have fixed the problem. Problem was Piston & Piston Pin were already a sub-assembly. In addition to this I tried to create an assembly of Connecting Rod and Hub Pin, sub-assembly within sub-assembly was not allowed.
I noticed that there was no separate file created for sub-assembly (Piston, Piston Pin, Connecting Rod and Hub Pin) in the folder. Only thing was sub-assembly was placed in Feature Manager of Design Tree.
