BOM using Weldment Cutlist

I am wondering if a BOM can be created from a weldment cut list. We manufacture Awning frames so our drawings are typically parts comprised of various weldment profiles. I would like to use a BOM to determine the costs involved with manuafacuring the awning. Eventually could be used for Bidding purposes.

Can this be done or does anyone have any suggestions?

Correct Answer

Angela,

You could do it within the Cut List it self, add the COST property to your profiles and you could add columns and rows to your Cutlist as you would to a BOM. You would have to enter the equations to each cell you want to use to calculate something manually, but then you could save that as a Cutlist template.

In 2009 they allow cut lists to be in an assembaly BOM showing the individual cutlist parts if you use an indented BOM. In 2008 and 2009 they allow you to dissolve the weldment part in an assembly BOM so you can see the total leangth of each weldment profile type.

I have no problem obtaining a complete list or cutlist from all of my weldment profiles. It actually works nice using the the cutlist table. But I want to have a separate table that I can incorporate this same cut list but also include pricing per foot of each material being used.

Maybe I am missing what you are indicating regarding your reply.
