Imagine a "half-orb" (later copied/mirrored into a full ball) like a half of a golf-ball. With a feature or features all over the surface.
I've tried to follow a "how to make a golf-ball" -video but my model, like theirs in the vids copy the original over and over again on top of itself... Mine isnt just a round bump so i get an error.
I just want to cover as much of the surface with the "hole" / feature as possible, with the small "thing" in the side... Sorry, not very easy to explain.
Create the holes first and pattern them just like the golf ball video.
Then add that side tab and pattern that.
Ok, i managed to make the holes nice and smooth'ish...
How do i pattern the cut and tab in all of them?
Also, is there a way to make the holes "un-evenly" all over the place. They are now in noticeable layers. Maximum coverage and space-usage in hopes.
Here is what I meant, a quick one layer pattern only. If you need them randomly then go with what Paul has done.

I tried different ways and came up with slightly rotating (body/move) each and pattern.. about 170 bores.. tabs are there but you may need to extrude/pattern?.. I'm sure there are many ways to do this... or, 6 faces (volleyball) with patterns on each face?
Solidworks cried... To it it was bad from attempts during the work with similar array))). Try (move / copy - tool in sw) with a poredelenny corner from a center of the sphere
...that's pave insane.... so, I had to do it.. crazy man!
definitely I do not remember, but about 5200 elements. SW was shocked and choked together with the video card.
..this is about 10K features and I think your's looks like it maybe a little more? (btw, is/was that a Rhino3D file?)
What's interesting about this file, it's image quality is set low ,.. it resolves or regenerates everything in ~30secs on my system,... and it takes about 10mins to get FULL control of the file... or, for the graphics to populate a usable 3D graphic!? (~3.3 million triangles)
IMHO,.. this is a very WEAK area about SolidWorks.. why not do some other graphical representation which is FASTER!?

He agrees in a rinka it more bright. But also actually my project was in 2008. Also harware is characteristic and SW braked well. Unfortunately my project is lost there was only a screenshot

..story,.. I had bought a pave bracelet (only ~50 stones on it) for my wife.. and when I saw what Shon modeled.. it blew my mind,.. I mean,.. the manual labor needed to added each of those stones!?....

Paul. It is the working model for a clip? we use a corner diameter 0,5mm for stones with a diameter of 2 mm and height from a surface 0,6mm. If diamond is buried as in your model at 0,3 mm - that it will be visible not - as the person who will fix stones will process this surface landing pine forest (to clarify a mirror) and will deepen even below. It is my question from the point of view of manufacturing techniques and a clip of stones.
and one stone as a rule fastens only on two elements of fixing since imho more elements will close a stone...
