Very simple question. How to know which bodies/objects are hidden in part?
I know how to hide it ant to "show" it. But it's annoying to go thru objects - to search which are hidden.
Thank you in advance
Here is what I meant.
Just curious why you would want to hide features in a part? If you need a different version of a part make another configuration and then suppress the feature you don't want or need...
When you are using suppress function - you are loosing bodies in part which are related to object you are suppressing.
To avoid that - I use "hide" function.
To un-hide, you can expand the body folder and un-hide from there.
And instead of hide, you can use delete body option in case you making configurations.
I know that i can expand body - and push "show" button.
But when there is for example 15 hidden parts - how to find them quickly?
And I don't want to delete it.
Would never ever work here...
That is a Modeling Disaster - do yourself a "Big" favor and change your workflow, how is the next person supposed to know the design intent.
You can do a save as another file.
If bodies are merged then showing one would fix the issue. If those are multi bodies, then bodies name would be the last feature merged in them. And you can show them from there.
I'm not able to understand the workflow of how showing from feature would help and not from bodies folder?
Where is disaster? Secondary features depends on main features (which I can change). When I'm changing main features - secondary features adjusts automatically.
I work alone on it.
you can (if you really want to use hide) use the little extra menu which appears next to your parts/features. Shows it pretty clear in my eyes.
Maybe someday you will know what I'm talking about, till then have fun designing....
The least you could do is rename the features to match the part or parts your trying to design, that way you could easily organize your feature tree and it would be more clear on which feature you show or hide.
Shift select your first part and the last part, then RMB and Select Show With Dependents.
I use hide and show a lot with display states..
Ok - here is file with 6 bodies - 4 of them are hidden.
How to know which?
Imagine that there is 85 bodies.
If you have 85 bodies, i'd really suggest skipping the hide function. Otherwise you will end up with a giant mess
Sometimes I just need to see what is under other objects.
And after - i want to bring it back.
These are the hidden one
But what is the quickest way to know which are hidden.
Without going to "cut list" and expanding
Right click in the graphics area and select "Show Hidden Bodies" And from there you can show them.
But when I exit from "show hidden" it disappears again.
Thank you Deepak
That what I was looking for
Thank you again
Do you know similar function - when you are working in assembly and editing part in place.
Sorry not currently possible. Please vote for SPR 669370
What is SPR 669370?
Once a bug/issue is verified by SOLIDWORKS Tech team, then a SPR number is generated.
SPR stands for Software Performance Report and essentially means SOLIDWORKS has verified the issue as a bug and will be working on a possible fix for a future service pack or version
To get the notification when this issue/bug is resolved you need to get connected to it. One way is by voting as described below:
Log into your customer profile at Log In | SOLIDWORKS
Then click on Knowledge Base
Search for the SPR 669370
Open it and then click on vote in bottom left corner.
You can also talk to your VAR (the company you bought SW from) to get to connected under this SPR
So selecting "let me know when it is fixed" is what you mean when you say "vote for"? This will help. And I voted just for practice, so that should help.
