SW Motion solid body contact doesn't work all the time (Basic Motion)

So, I've made an assembly with a free fall object and added gravity and solid body contact between the object and the ground in Basic Motion and what happens when I run the calculation is the object just goes through the ground. The weird thing is, if I play a bit more with the contact settings, like, instead of choosing the whole object for the contact, I only chose the part which will actually touch the ground, then the solid body contact works properly. Is that some kind of bug or I'm missing something?
