works well if you use shells. No pipe elements in SWX. I suppose you could use beams if you can ignore internal stresses. No code checking of any sort. piping supports need some extra work.
I would use shell elements so just sweep out surfaces or offset from a solid model.......sometime they can be problematic on getting to stitch up but not often. I take it you are just doing single pipe runs? Hopefully not too long compared to the pipe diameter - less than a 100:1 would be good.
