Make two weldments with same names of cut-list folders.
2. Make assy of these two weldment parts.
3.Make drawing of assy and insert indented BOM with detailed cut-list.
4.Dissolve both weldments in BOM.
5.You have get BOM of only one weldment part.
Since I do not make weldments the way you describe, could you upload your parts?
SW2017 sp0 is ok?
Files are attached
You taught me something I had never seen in SolidWorks before; it will require some study because it looks like something I may have use for. But I digress. When you made the comment "BS-2 and BD-2 disappear because of the same names of cut-list folders in both weldments" you literally meant the folder's name correct? When I renamed the folders, nothing changed in the BOM but when I changed the description of the parts...
So it looks to me that the BOM feeds off the weldment item's description. Which does make some sense...
Did you push update button in drawing after name changing of cut-list folders?
My SW doesn`t react on description,it uses folder name as unical key field.
Not sure what you mean by update button? I did rebuild the drawing. But I can check again when I have access to the computer I put your files on.
Tried renaming the folders again. I then did a rebuild and ctrl-q in the part, the assembly and the drawing and no change in the BOM. I then closed everything down. Then I re-opened the drawing, assembly and parts, and renamed the descriptions. When I went back to the drawing, the BOM had already updated showing 4 separate items in the BOM without doing any rebuilds.
I spent a little time trying to find a setting in SolidWorks that would control this but I cannot. Time to regroup...
go to configurations - right click - in properties select the drop down in the BOM OPTIONS - select the 'user specified name' - and use a new number/name
Adam, it will be interesting to see if your suggestion works since Igor and I are using the same models and drawing but getting different results
I got the same result as you, both "description" and "cut-list folder names" have influence on BOM. But description can`t be unical key field, but part number can,but in cut-list there is no PartNumber property for cut-list bodies. So I plan to unchek option "rename cut-list folders with description property" and use folder names as unical fields in scope of assy.
Even though I do not know how you are getting the folder names to control the BOM, you need to do whatever you are most comfortable with. As I stated originally, I normally do not make weldments like you do so I would have not had your problem.
And how do you make weldments?
Would be a single part.
I think what Igor is referring to is a document setting under the weldment catagory:
With this option checked, the Cutlist folder names can be driven by the item description which renames the folders and serializes them by adding <unique integer> to them.
Igor, I wasn't able to get the assembly BOM to display a column that references the Cutlist-Item-Number (which is possible when configuring a weldment cutlist table)
Nor was I able to dissolve both weldments in BOM as you mentioned above. I'm using 2016 SP4, so I'll take a look at them if you can save them in this version.
Make BOM with these options
Dissolve assies as shown below
