I use 2016-2017 student edition. Which is free for one year. I wish to know whether it is possible to repair the software. Because I have glitch with it.
You might want to give a little bit more information there Maha.
When I encounter problem I will attach a screenshot of it.
You can see bottom is vanished.
It's more like video card issue than the software to me
You should contact your local VAR
Students need to contact their teacher. Try the options mentioned here:
2017 SOLIDWORKS Help - Graphics Adapters and Drivers
The first one doesn't work like that if you don't have a certified graphics card, i.e. you will need to try different graphics card drivers yourself untill you find the optimal driver.
What are you computer and graphic card specifications Maha?
Have you checked your system meets all the requirements here, including your graphics card?
Hardware & System Requirements | Support | SOLIDWORKS
I don't think your card is a recommended or supported card and therefore could be the cause of your problem, not the software.
No, system does not meet all the requirement.
Q1. If you close and then re-open the file - does the problem go away (at least for a period of time)?
Q2. If you close SolidWorks and re-start - does the problem go away (at least for a period of time)?
Q3. If you reboot the computer - does the problem go away (at least for a period of time)?
This is not a persistent problem. If I change the view problem goes away, not only that problem is not link to a particular view as well.
Then live with the issue or spend $$$ on supported graphics card.
Supported graphics cards are very expensive not only that when I change the computer I have to get remove it. I wish to know whether there is any external graphics cards for this purpose.
You can alternatively turn on the option in your tools>options>system options>performance "Use Software OpenGL Only"
This will be a way to determine if it is your graphics card or not, and if it is, you can just keep it turned on.
This option is inactive in my SW software. I use 2016-2017 student edition.
This option can only be toggled when you have no files open. So you will need to close any parts/assemblies/drawings before you can turn it on.
I realize that this option is slowing down the function of SW. Will this be the drawback of this option?
This tickbox tells SolidWorks to stop using the Geforce card and do graphical processing using the CPU. Given this you should certainly expect it to be slower. However if you do not get the issue mentioned above then this proves the issue is with the graphics card/driver.
Maha, I notice that this is a desktop computer. As you are a student, and using a student edition, I would have thought you would be using a laptop/notebook as a much more viable option? How do you use SolidWorks when in class? What courses are you studying? The more complex the course, the more demand there might be on SolidWorks and therefore the more issues you may encounter with not having the correct requirements for SolidWorks.
I follow stand-alone course in SW. There are desktop computers in the class. Before I had laptop as well, now I am not using laptop because its screen size is limited and I not comfortable with its mouse. I am very comfortable with desktop computers.
