Vault Admin

My shortcut to the PDMWorks Vault Admin is no good since installing SolidWorks 2009. Any ideas? I updated the Vault software on our server and when I open Solidworks it logs into PDMWorks, but I can't access the Vault Admin to add new projects, change settings, etc...

Correct Answer

Hi Josh,

Look for this file pdmwVaultAdmin.exe . If for some reason it's not to be found, try reinstalling SW Explorer with PDMWorks Admin tool included in install.

I concur with the above from Troy but you should have saved your PDM settings prior to install. Your pdmrc folder in C:\VaultData is the folder with all that info.

When you updated it should have keep all your information. If you did a new install the default admin login is "pdmwadmin - pdmwadmin"

Got it. I put the installation disc back in and found where you have to tell it to install PDMW Vault Admin. All good now. Thanks for the help fellas.

I upgraded my SW 2009 SP0.0 with the SolidWorks 2009 SP1.0 this morning. I now no longer have access to the PDMWorks VaultAdmin and the link to open it is no longer in the SolidWorks 2009 program folder. I found the pdmwVaultAdmin.exe file; but when executing it it refers to our old SW 2007 vault.

I called our VAR and they told me to go to the "If you experience a download problem, click here" link and re-download the 300 MB SolidWorks Workgroup PDM Server package. I did, and I can now check data out of the vault (was unable to do so before); but I still do not have access to the PDMWorks VaultAdmin utility. What am I doing incorrectly?

Re-start your SW install and on the page where you can pick which options are installed hit the + sign next the PDMWorks Workgroup option and you'll see that PDMWorks Vault Admin must be selected to have it installed on that particular computer.

I don't know why, after having a vault for years, that this option would not default to being selected for upgrade when everything else was.
