When user names like we see in this latest spam attack are allowed in and able to post, how are we ever to trust the security of Cloud services like the Designer series with our most sensitive data?
I strongly suspect there are different security measures involved with file storage than there are with a discussion forum.
Unfortunately the higher the stakes the higher the percentage of break in's, highly doubt that SW or Desaultt Systems has more means or a better system then the Banks that get hacked, or Government Offices etc.... Surely you're right about the level of security measures for a discussion forum.....
How do you trust microsoft operating system?
Just have faith . All is well

Life is built on trust...
You trust the cloud by encryption. Let Russia have the ones & zeros of your most sensitive designs. Useless with the key.
You need to trust the encryption maker that the encryption algorithm does what it says. You also must trust that there are no "back doors" or "master keys" built in.
To whom have you entrusted a copy of the key to? Remember, even the great General Petraeus gave up secrets under the right conditions.
Never trust the cloud and put anything up there except some pictures from my iPhone (wish I'd have a better choice)
Thanks for the links
All true and accurate statements. And I guess it ends up being more of a rhetorical question since there is never going to be a concrete answer. It's just frustrating because without a doubt my biggest struggle is letting other people see what I'm designing. A robust Designer package or something like the SolidWorks online that I've heard mentioned a few times, would be a huge step forward. The company I work for is very security conscious and has things fairly tightly locked down. Convincing them to let me put a complete factory design on an external server somewhere would be a very tough sell even under the best of circumstances. When things like these spam attacks run for hours on end when any human can plainly see what a software shield apparently cannot, it only puts the cloud further out of reach.
If someone is able to write the code that is meant to stop security breaches, then someone is able to break into it. Look at yahoo.
Wow - yeah - just look at Yahoo, over 1 Billion passwords, and they used Yahoo's programs to break in.........

It's the major corporations w/ espionage issues and military that cant trust that cloud. And if you signed your disclosure does the cloud need to sign it too? Maybe you simply trust the cloud like your prototype shop that is both working on top secrete john Deere and Caterpillar tractors.
