"could not rename file" issues

We have been running into some very odd behavior inside of PDMworks workgroup when it comes to renaming files and old "where used" relationships. We are still running on SW2007. What is happening is, old, no longer existent parts (have been deleted from the vault) are showing up under the "where used" in the assemblies document properties. This is preventing us from renaming the file and we get the "could not rename the file" error box. Has anyone else experienced this? If you have any solutions, please let me know. There are a couple hacks we have come up with to make this work, one being we rename the file inside of solidworks explorer in the local view and push back across to the vault. And the second involves creating a dummy file named as the missing "where used" part and sending that to the vault. Again, any help would be great. Thanks.

Jeff
