How do i combine multiple custom properties to be 1 complete line of tekst in my sheet format? It's for my custom property tab.
I want to be able to get the PartNumber into my BOM
Then it should be fairly easy....
20001 as your main designation
and then a number or letter for every possible choice
and I would consider adding another Job Related/Customer Specific number
Then in your BOM Part number column you type or link everyone of those choices even though your only using maybe 3 or 4, but your string would include up to a dozen or more custom properties, then when you drop a part in the assembly it would only read what is picked in the Custom Property Tab Builder.
In the drawing where you collect the part number info, just make sure that the space is big enough for the entire string if needed...
You can string multiple custom properties in you drawing, you set them in the Custom Property Tab Builder as individual entries and then in your drawing:
$PRPSHEET:"PartNumber"-$PRPSHEET:"Description"-$PRPSHEET:"Material" etc.... then it would read as 123-Cam-Chrome or whatever the custom properties are.
The way I have my Part Number set is:
Then in my drawing or BOM I link the custom property (PartNumber)
can you use Custom property's too as an value? Because i have an Radio group in which i select what categorie it is in. This way i have predefined beginnings of my Partnumbers.
I don't understand your workflow, but Definitely you can use a combination of custom properties to add up to your final number etc..
sorry if it seems a bit od, but we are making conveyer belts. With that said, we have a lot of stuff that is constantly the same (Like tensioners and frame parts). We have sorted it in multiple subcategorie's. So for example: Frame parts are Always 20001-xxxxxxx and tensioners are Always 20002-xxxxxx.
To me it looked like a great outcome because of the big amount of internships we get that have to work with it. This way, they don't have to remember a lot of sub numbering and i hope there won't be that many wrong placed items in our database.
That's very possible, sometimes we need to think it through a little differently. Are there any Job Specific components or do you build totally with interchangeable components, just different sizes etc.??
mostly the same (stock) parts. There are a few plates that change form because of certain specifications of our customers (note, there are at the moment about 50 different combinations, more are coming). But that are like 4-5 parts of the +-190. The other parts don't change that often except for the frame. This has the option to change in overal dimension.
sorry if i'm misunderstanding you, but i won't get it working. The idea is great, should work great, but my solidworks knowledge isn't that great hahahaThis is what i get in my BOM
after some trial and error it worked. Had to change $PRPSHEET:... to just $PRP:...
thanks for your support!
Yes - sorry about that, in the drawing format you need to type $PRPSHEET.... In the BOM just $PRP.....
