I am currently tearing my hair out over a model I am creating to print as a gift. I'm attempting to make a miniature of the character Azazel from the game The Binding of Isaac. I was able to model the general shape of his body, arms/legs, head/face that I liked, but his hair has been driving me nuts. His bangs make a a very organic, asymmetrical shape along the front of his face that I haven't been able to create the surface of correctly. The closest I have come is to make a surface fill based on the shape I want, but it is lumpy and uneven, and I don't know why or how to fix that. I have tried creating lofts and sweeps as well but haven't been able to create the right shape.
This is my first time using the surfacing functions, I have watched several tutorials and even tried the power surfacing add-in, but am still stuck. His head has a 1 inch radius, and I was planning the hair to extend to about 1.08 inches. I've attached the file with my progress so far, but have saved several versions with various different attempts as well should they be needed. Everything in the model is well defined until I began my attempts on the hair, which starts on Revolve21 (I've scrapped a lot of attempts).
I would really appreciate any help or advice on how to make his hair follow the curves more consistently around his head. I've also posted an image of the character as well for those who are unfamiliar with him. Thank you for your time.
EDIT: I've been trying other methods as well, does anyone know why I can't draw the shape of the hair with a spline on the surface and simply cut the 1.08 r "hair" sphere below the line into the 1.00 r "face" sphere surface? Perhaps that's the wrong way to put it, but that image creates the result I'm looking for, since I want his hair to be smooth and uniform. I've attached another attempt (Azazel 5) to show the spline I'm talking about -and how progressively messier it's getting T.T-
