What needs to be done for auto-generating just the 'component reference tag' as balloon text in a solidworks drawing created for a 3D assembly that is linked to solidworks electrical? Currently when I choose 'component reference' as the balloon text, I am getting the component reference tag and the random number generated by solidworks for the part that I am annotating. Please see attached.

If I understand the question correctly, one way to go about this would be to use the Create Marks command in the SOLIDWORKS Drawing of the 3D Assembly after selecting the drawing view.
This will not add balloons, but it will add component marks to the drawing as expected:

That was exactly what I was looking for. It would have been nicer if there was a feature to add balloons also. I will try to place an enhancement request.
