Extracting Equation Data [Evaluates to] into an Excel

Hello everyone,

For a project I made a complex model in a multibody part, which I wanted to use to calculate certain equations which have a relation to each other. The model is complete, but I can’t figure out a way to extract the outcome of the equations to an excel. I know how to extract the Equations into an excel or text file, but I need the exact outcome of the formula's and not the Equations that bring about the outcome.

I have reconstructed the problem in a simple model and added a screenshot of the data I need.

I hope someone that can tell me how to extract this data.

Correct Answer

Try this. To use this macro, have a model (part or assembly) open. Then got ot Tools > Macro > Run and browse to the extracted SWP file. The output data will be extracted to a new spreadsheet.

The macro can be enhanced further to have the values in specific column. And file can be saved with desired name in desired path.

Hi Patrick,

Select the rows you want to extract from Solidworks table and copy.

Then open an excel sheet and simply paste it.Then delete the columns or rows you don't want in the excel sheet.I'm using Solidworks 2015 and this technique works pretty well for me. I'm not sure whether this is applicable for Solidworks 2016 or not.Hope this helps.

If it’s possible to link this somehow into an excel file. Since i am trying to use this information to create a graph in excel. The plan was to be able to change the geometry and the graph will dynamically change with it. We are trying to calculate light distribution on a surface after it has entered and exited an optical lens.

Simply use the export option in the equation manager.

The export function only exports the [Value/Equation] collum but i need the [Evaluates to] Collum.

Sounds like a plan, I'm quit new to macro's so that will be hard for me. Are you able to send me a small setup/foundation of how a macro like this would be looking? Since i dont know how to select or even process the outcome of a formula into a macro.
