I think I read somewhere it's possible in 2016, but since I only have 2015 right now... just wondering - (I think in the past I've hidden items, and used multiple views) - is that the only answer?

You can orthographically break an isometric view in Drawings, both horizontally and vertically. However, if you wish to break in the same direction as the model for correct look and alignment, you'll need create a Model Break View in the model (similar to how exploded views are created in assemblies). That model break view can then be displayed in the drawing at any projection. This is SW2016, though...not SW2015.
