When I import an assembly into Visualize, some of the components which are separate in the Solidworks assembly, become a single part in Visualize. Has anyone else seen this or know what can be done to keep the parts separate?
When you import the file a "box" should open. Your part grouping is probably set to automatic or flatten. Try one of the other options like "retain structure"
Thanks Jason. It was set to "Appearance" and I changed it to "Automatic" and that worked. I'll try "Retain Structure" if I run into the problem again.
Thanks Jason, for the tip.
I would also suggest to watch the first SW Visualize tutorial on how best to projects from SW CAD into Visualize:
SOLIDWORKS Visualize | MySolidWorks Training
"Import & CAD Live-Update"
As you will see from this tutorial, the recommended 2 ways to import your 3D files into Visualize is the 'Part Grouping' mode of "Appearance" and "Automatic" options from the import window. There are other 'Part Grouping' modes to explore as well, but those should give you the results you are looking for.
There are several other Visualize tutorials that will surely help you progress through the core Visualize features. I suggest watching them all!
Thanks Brian. I have watched them all (several times) since I'm not a Solidworks user nor a CAD designer. But I did overlook that part about the "Part Grouping" on importing. Thanks for pointing it out.
Since you bring up training, do you know of any printed Visualize user manuals - either from Solidworks or a third party? I can't find any such manuals online.
