today i noticed that upon importing a part into composer there was a checkbox to include PMI during the import. after i imported the part i was unable to see the PMI. is there a setting for showing the PMI and can it then be published to 3D pdf

What is your CAD Source file?
The right sight of the import menu, and so the PMI Import, is to use PMI from Catia.
As far as i know, this dosn't work with other CAD formats.
I am using SolidWorks files so I guess that answers the question
Composer will bring in PMI from SolidWorks, but it comes in blocky and loses its associativity.
One nice thing is that it does bring over both the annotation views, 3D views created using SolidWorks MBD, and each set of PMI can be turned on/off individually.
