Doing the Lesson 1 Tutorial on making my first part. In the topic in which I learn how to use the "through all" extrusion option to drill a small circular hole into a bigger hole.
The problem is, I set it up and everything, yet it looks like it never drilled. The circle sketch is still there, but no hole. I tried reversing directions, still nothing. Any ideas where I went wrong?
Colin,
Through All Extrusion suppresed.
Through All extrusion resolved.
As you can see... the Through All extrusion IS working, however I think you either are using the wrong command for what you are trying to achieve OR you have the wrong idea of what a Through All extrusion does. You can find out more about it over here.
The captures shown above shows when the extrusion points outwards.
This its when it points inwards.
The difference is that when it points outwards it tries to add material, but it meets its end-condition right away and functions as a parting line for the cilindrical lid. Inwards, it doesn't make any changes since the merge results option is marked.
Are you trying to do a Through All CUT-Extrusion? Like this one? I don't really know your background on CAD but I think you are confused and think that Extrusions that add or remove materials can be made with the same command, which is not the case in SolidWorks.
