I have a part inserted in to a bunch of other parts. I have it transferring its custom properties and it was working nice. I just decided I'd like to add a couple more properties, thinking it's no big deal, but the new properties didn't come through. I've just had to manually edit each feature, not changing anything just click accept. I tried recording a macro to do it, but that didn't work. I've got it working now but it's ridiculous how much time the simplest things take because I don't know how to use them properly or SW doesn't do them properly. Which is it?
Is this correct behaviour? Is there a better way? I was considering a pack and go as (I've had to do that once already because my assembly file size had grown to 1.8G. The pack and go got it back down to 280K) SW Seriously doing my head in with this one.
So I fixed the problem manually, but then the assembly size inexplicably grew again to above 2GB. At this size my laptop gives an 'Unable to Save Error' so I had to suppress everything to get it to save. This meant I had no choice but to do a pack and go. re the custom properties of the inserted part as per my post the pack and go did not work properly when I included the inserted part, but when I excluded it, and then copied it over manually to the new folder with a simple save as copy it's worked fine.
My new assembly is back down to ~300MB which is about where it should be I suppose. (The total file size of all the included parts is 307MB)
I have read a bit about file sizes growing in forum posts and it seems to be to do with display states - I have removed all my display states yet it's still occuring. I've made my assembly read only, I dont know if thats a good idea or not, but its only acting as a container for these parts, there's no mates or anything, the only thing I really want is the BOM
