You are mirroring a line on top of an existing line.There's no need to slect the long line to mirror if it's already the same as the existing one. Either delete the original line on the left, providing it doesn't mess up any existing relations, or don't select the long line to mirror.
Edit: if you're going to use contour regions to extrude or cut it won't really matter if there are two lines on top of each other.
