My computer doesn't have a disc drive. Is there any way to install solidworks without one?

We don;t use our CD versions, if the student is like the regular SW you should be able to go into my portal and download the software. The plus side on multiple computers is you have 1 download networked and bring it to each computer from the shared drive and enter each key per seat of it. A lot less down time on the load up side of things.
Customer with ISO 9001 certifications require physical installation kits in order to pass their annual inspection. SW could at least do it for them.

Are you sure about that? We are ISO 9001:2008 certified and do not require physical disks.

100% sure. In fact, yesterday I had to send 1 SW 2017 SP0.0 to a client precisely because of this.
Knowing how things work in my country and your statement, maybe it was a requirement some time ago (maybe even a LONG time ago) and they still ask you to have it, even though isn't mandatory anymore. It's pretty normal in here (Venezuela) to still ask for requirements even decades after a the law changed, for example: I still can't wear shorts in any goverment building, including our DMV equivalent and post-office, even when a law in 2005 abolished that rule.
Also, might have to do with some other local regulation somewhat attached to ISO 9001. This could also be true since piracy rates in here are damn high, goverment has introduced some regulations about it.

Agreed, our DVDs are unopened and go into the fire safe.
The installer downloaded from the portal is a small one, which is actually a downloader package that processes the bulk of its data download within the process of its installation, after licensed products are chosen for inclusion. Thus, make sure you maintain Internet connection through the installation process.
Easy fix: find a computer with one. Copy the full content into a flash driive and you are all set.
I've always been waiting for SolidWorks to send Flash drive installation kits instead of CD, which are slower and nearly obsolete by now. Competitors have been using this approach for YEARS now.
