It is looking better all the time. I just noticed that when I bring it up and then close it, I am unable to reactivate it again unless I close SolidWorks and go back in. Is this an expected behavior? The error I get is "nViews has already existed!" I'm running SolidWorks 2017 SP3.0 on the multiversion setting. I have versions 2014-2017 installed.
Please see att. image
I think the topmost option is off so the nViews dialog box is behind other windows app. so you don't see it. If you try to run it again, then you get mesg it's existed
1) you can use cursor hover over the SW icon in the taskbar to bring it on
2) just click on the icon showing in the image to make it topmost (icon looks darker)
That was it!! Many thanks
Ahh nice this works very well now
This is actually faster than pressing spacebar waiting for solidworks view cube to do its thing and selecting something.
Very Nice Work
Something flakey is happening with mine after I just installed your update.
It seems to load fine and I go to the Tools/ add-ins and it shows:
I activated the tool bar:
but the first icon is grayed out and doesn't do anything, the second (settings) icon brings up the transfer License reminder only and the third button just shows the "Intentionally left Blank" message.
I tried reinstalling it a few times and it never shows any errors but I get the same results.
I also can not get the cube to show. (I don't remember the key to hit - but have tried many and no luck)
This tool is used to manipulate a 3D model so I set the icon grey out when no active document or a 2D drawing.
If you open a part or assembly, this icon will be available
You did nothing wrong. I guess you tried to run nViews right after launching SW (no document) so the icon is greyout
Try again and let me know
Thanks, Ned - But I don't want to take all credit for this tool
Actually, I got many excellent comments/suggestions during the development of this addin as you can see from the list of Gentlemen I posted in the original post (B-01)
Here is the original version
Thanks Christian - that was the problem.
I should have realized that but it was late and I was tired and ready to go home for supper.
My mind was on food instead of software.
I have a suggestion for the next update - that is to move the "Transfer license" to it's own icon instead of connected to the settings.
Noted ! My intent was to have all related to license in one form while other forms are for features such as nViews
I just downloaded CvC Tools and checking out nViews. All was looking good.
I started clicking other icons in the nViews window and found the icon that opened this SW Forums page.
After that, when I click on the nViews button in the top menu bar, it doesn't open anymore.
I just get this popup and nothing else happens, even when I click OK.
I closed SW and reopened. Clicked the nViews button and it worked as expected. Click on the Forum button and I get the popup again.
SW 2017 sp3.0
Edit: You're right. When the popup reappeared, I minimized SW and there was the nViews window, behind everything else.
You're not the one to ask this question as I received many emails too
For the next release, I'll change
1) Top most will be a default option
2) Change the note in the popup message to guide how to get the nViews dialog back on top
