I have a major assembly with the following details:
1,642 total components
1,406 parts
280 unique parts
236 sub assemblies
When I create a BOM for this major assy, its very slow to edit the BOM. I know I can export it to Excel, but then it wouldnt be linked anymore.
Any suggestions?

I'm wondering if a possible solution would be to filter the BOM by metadata/custom properties (for example, include only fabricated steel parts), but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that in the BOM generation interface. Has anyone done anything like this?

I'm stucked with the same problem. I'm trying to edit a BOM with 250 rows. My walkarround is to export the list to excel format. Then edit the cells in Excel, then copy/paste full columns to Solidworks. During the paste process it can take 15min to 1/2h to execute the command. I can't believe how BOMs can be so desperately slow. I can't imagine how a really complex project is done in Solidworks.
More than 10 years later with the same problem OMG
