Cost price application for laser cut parts

Greetings all,

I have received an enquiry for the development of an application which will be able to automate the cost price calculation for models manufactured with a cutting-process (laser cutting, flame cutting, water cutting, etc.).

I am interested in hearing if such a tool could be of interest to others as well. The price has not been fixed yet since it is in the very early stage.

The tool will include the following functionality:

- Extract information from file name and custom properties
- Get/calculate the smallest surrounding rectangle (regardless of form and orientation in space)
- Get plate thickness
- Get total cut length (perimeter of part, holes, slots, etc.)
- Count cut starts (one for the perimeter and one for each hole, slot, etc)
- Count number of bends
- Process single part or all parts in assembly (sheet metal parts only)
- Create BOM (when processing an assembly)
- Lookup cost information from database (support for several cut machines)
- Calculate cost price
- Export information to Excel, data file, database, etc.

Please respond with your thoughts about it and ideas for other functionality which would be relevant to add.
