i am required to design a simple transmission case/housing. Creating the case will be simple using extrude and shell commands but as in typical transmission cases, I need to add a little material around where i will be placing the bolts and dowels to seal the case. Thanks.
in this image, the two bolt holes on either side of the top "vertex"/web feature are what i want. I want extra material around the edge of the mating surface for the transmission case cover that extends onto the side of the transmission case far enough to tap a hole for the transmission case bolts.

If you can build this model up to this point you should be able to add extra material around the edge by creating a sketch and extrude or revolve it
this is what i mean. i guess i can make a vertical construction line where the whole would be and revolve a sketch around that axis. i thought perhaps the hole wizard woukd have a way of doing it more efiiciantly. thanks for the help.
Yes, Revolve is a better choice than extrude cut since you can add drill point angle at the same time
Chris HB I'm still confused. Are you talking about the casting, the machined casting, or a machined casting at different routing/machining centers? Or how to manage a 3D model through those different states?
Or are you talking about some sort of lip feature or groove feature that follows a sealing path?
