Im trying to convert a sketch to a planar surface but I keep on getting errors - I tried the tools--> sketch --> and tried to detect the issues but cant figure it out..
The sketch is too complicated, please build your planar surface with a few steps.
Before you're going too far, can you explain what you want to achieve from these sketches then guys here might have a better solutions for you?
Looks like you have double-nested contours (I.e. A hole within a hole).
As LIN SHAODUN said, you're going to have problems with a sketch that complex. I'd recommend deleting most of it. It's almost always better to keep sketches simple, even if it requires multiple features. And I avoid sketch patterns completely. Like all those circles in your sketch. I assume they're for holes. If so, I'd use a sketch to create one hole, and then Linear Pattern the feature.
Instead of deleting it, you could close the sketch, start a new sketch on the same plane. Convert the necessary entities and create first feature (outer lines to create the plane). repeat for next feature etc etc.
It also looks like this is a auto cad sketch with a lot of splines that are not closed
