HI All,

I'm not a computer engineer, but having a file on a network or USB device should be slower when Opening but when the model is actually opened (and therefore, loaded into the RAM) there should be virtually no diference other than slower saving speeds [AS FAR AS I UNDERSTAND, I might be mistaken].

UPDATE: I just doubled checked my statement with the SolidWorks Essential Training Manual and its 100% correct. And if you have 10gbps networking on your PC it should be virtually just as fast for every task you do.
You have 10 Gbps? Wow! What 802.11 standard is that? Our wired-network is only 1 Gbps.
(I think he was talking about opening, not using the file)

10gbps is only reachable by wired connections with a special expansion card that takes up a PCI-E slot out of your PC. I don't currently have one since the VAR I work for sticks to Workstation laptops and that feature isn't as common as I'd like, but I do have a couple of costumer whom are running 10gbps networks, they usually deal with dealing with ERP/PDM + CAD. It's freaking amaizing!!
Yes don't run from network but if you must, use SpeedPak for large assemblies. Google what Speedpak is, it might be just what you need!
Hi All,
I have increased Virtual memory, enabled the Large Assembly mode, but unable to find speekpak option. I have googled but not found the correct option in Solid works.
User machine is working ok but only Solid work having slowness issue even run the small assembly still taking Long time.
Can some one provide the Solutions on this issue??
Any help much appreciated.!!
If small assemblies are also taking a long time then you have a network issue, either hardware or software, more than likely not related to SW in the least.
I currently have a repeatable problem with uploading large files over a 1 Gbps wired network. They upload just fine over a wireless connection of 300 Mbps. Cisco is now involved.
Just had another thought: start the Task Manager, switch to the Networking tab, scroll down to where you see your particular connection, then start Solidworks and try to open the assembly. Your Link Speed (at the bottom of the screen) it the maximum and the Network Utilization needs to be running at capacity. If it is not then you definitely have a network problem not a SW problem.
Hi All,
I have Reinstalled Solid works but now we are getting below error while run the Simulation.
"Solidworks Simulation authorization failed".
Please Help!!
This message suggests a license issue. Please be sure to contact your SOLIDWORKS Value Added Reseller (VAR) to troubleshoot this. To get the most efficient assistance possible, send your VAR a SOLIDWORKS Rx Problem Capture with video that shows the behavior.

1. Never run SW on a file which is on a network.
2. If you must open a file from the network, refer to rule #1.
Seriously, if you have an operational 1 Gb network link then it is possible. Select to load parts 'light-weight' and use the 'large assembly' option.
