Here's a really quick version for you to look at. I've not defined the sketch but you should get the idea.
Very possible, draw the side profile section and revolve. I am going to a meeting or I would do an example.
could you do an example when you're done with the meeting?
I just checked over the appearances and couldn't find any matched the image Matt shown in the picture he posted ? Looks like rusted metal to me, not mushroom texture?
I ended up using a marble and playing with the colors to get it to come out.
Look great! thank you, Casey
Adding to what was already done, here is my take on the part.
Hi Casey, where did you find Marble? I looked for that and could not find anything? Tom
Tom, look in the appearances under textures. It will be in the stone folder under architectural. I had to look for it myself. It is also in the top level appearance folder under ,stone, architectural, but I ended up just using the texture to get what I had shown.
You can make it look exactly the same if you put the time in it...
What gets me is the appearance of the cap (which should be a separate body for material assignment, but then appearances can also just be applied to the faces, as if painting the stem white). It looks like marbled cherry, knotty oak, brazilian heartwood, or some other exotic wood. A simple wood grain appearance wouldn't look similar at all. Mahogany appears most similar but lacks the sworls in the grain. Maybe someone more familiar with custom materials can advise on that.
I would look at Maple Burl or Curly maple.
will this work.
Where is the dwarf?
Last I saw him he was smashing a computer that was running "AutoCAD", He is really not a fan.
..btw,.. there's a scanned gnome out on the web.. for anyone wanting a fun re-engineering project...
Take a look at Paul Salvador's post here & see if it gives you some ideas if you don't want your shroom to be a uniform revolve.
sorry for the late response. Thanks everyone !!
