I am trying to model a series of holes in a pattern with a new pattern and a different distance. How do I prevent the orginal pattern from being copied?
A extensive Non-Disclosure Agreement - or model a fake sample part.
A few ways to do this, however, I would use a design table and a simple base sketch controlling the dimensions with various configurations.
I can open your design table

I ran into a similar situation a while ago, and I finally remembered how I solved it. When creating the Pattern you need to make sure you have this box highlighted when you select the hole (the one above it will be selected by default). That way you're patterning the Face instead of the Feature.
What Glenn said..... It retains the last feature. Somewhat annoying, but so used to it now I don't really think about fixing it.
