"Up to next"-feature in Mold Tools (Coring)

I have a part from which I want to produce a mold. I have made all necessary surface bodies manually and have made the tooling split successfully. At this point, all I need is to make a core coming perpendicularly to the mold opening direction. I want to use the "Core" function in SolidWorks, but when I follow the steps I get a core which cuts through the whole mold, even though I select the "Up to next" option. I just want the core to match the surface of the cavity.

Can anyone guide me further from this point?

Andreas,

I have experienced similar situations using up to surface command. Try these one of them should work.
I suspect that the issue is when selecting a line that is a tangent edge the command ignores the "zero thickness line" and looks for the next surface.
1. Set you sketch to a smaller area than you are actually cutting and it might cut to your intended surface. This should work but not give the desired results. It does allow the trouble shooting of the issue.
2. Go into the sketch and select the lines using convert entities. This might work, but I doubt based on my suspicion.
3. Before you attempt the cut, go into the feature you are trying cut to, create a split line and cut to split line, vertex. This should give you what I think you are trying to accomplish, however, If I am seeing correctly it appears that the cut is up to the diameter of the part and tangent to the O.D. This will leave a Knife edge on the core which will wear quickly and cause mold maintenance issues.
4. Another option is to show a previous sketch then use a vertex in that sketch as the end point.
