Electrical PDF Export
The problem starts with S-071644 which removed the PDFCreator from the Electrical setup.
If you want to enable it again you will have to complete two tasks after installing the pdfcreator manually.
1. Copy all files from C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS Electrical\GhostScript\bin
to C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS Electrical\GhostScript (one directory up)
Electrical is searching for them in the wrong directory.
2. Change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Trace Software\SolidWorks Electrical\Services\PDFPrinterName from TsPs to PDFCreator
If you restart Electrical, the PDF Export should work again. (You still have to install the PDFCreator as described in the Solution)
added 2016-11-17
3. Change ‘CustomTempDir’ setting in registry key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trace Software\ SolidWorks Electrical\Settings] to a path with no space in it, i.e. ‘CustomTempDir’=’c:\temp’. If you do not already have this registry key, create it as a string value.
Please be aware that there is another issue generating PDFs in 2017 SP0 which leads to wrong pdf creation if you use folders in your document tree, which is independent from this issue.
Hi i am hoping one of you chaps can help me please?
I am new to using solidworks electrical 2016 and PDM
i can not check in new projects that i have created, nor export/pint to PDF as i get an error message saying PDFCreator software not installed. When checking in this will crash the program and i have to restart it.
i can print an already created project (previously done on electrical 2014) but i can only print one drawing at a time to one PDF, eg i will end up with 122 pdf's in a project, instead of 1 pdf with 122 pages.
My machine has DoPDF8 installed.
Solidsolutions in the UK could only tell me they had the same issues, the issue was logged but no fix yet.
any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dan
Hi Daniel
See Michael's workaround a little bit above in this post . If it works, be happy . On my side, if I follow Michael's workaround, the PDF task is running but no file will be generated . The destination folder is empty at the end of the process .

Hi Daniel.,
Uninstalled existing DoPDF8 creator..Download PDFCreator-2_4_0-Setup & install..
Then go to registry
Regedit--> Change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Trace Software\SolidWorks Electrical\Services\PDFPrinterName from TsPs to PDFCreator
Try it..

Mohan
Anyone got it working on windows 10?
I have followed the steps above.
Moving the ghostscript file, editing the registry, and installing pdfforge.
But when trying to export to pdf the PDFCreator dialog doesn't open, instead it brings up the latest used windows window to the front of the screen.
No error messages, nothing in the pdfcreator log.
Regards
Anders
Sorry for my late reply on this, I have had lots of PC issues and a total lack of support from our IT department but finally the local IT guy along with the help from a chap at Solid Solutions my machine is now working as it should and printing PDF's etc.
Long story short we had an upgrade for EPDM from 2014 to 2016 which failed and caused many issues in the design department that took a week to fix.
With regard to the PDFCreator issue I know that we had to download and install the software from pdforg (IT department said I cant have the software! but local IT guy put it on my machine)
Other than that I am not entirely sure what was done to get it all working, I know there were problems with the SQL server and registry names had to be changed etc so sorry I cant be of any more use.
Oh this is on a Windows 7 machine
Thanks for the replies.

Regarding the possible issue with folders when working from 2017SP0. I found this.
had the ghostscript then the TrPs printer issue.
Performed your three steps, but it would not change to PDFCreator.
I created NEW projects, they worked. Copied folders over from the non-printing project, it still worked.
Duplicated the non-printing project, did not work. HERE IS WHAT I DID.
I went into the SQL database, for this project, and opened table dbo.tew.printerconfig.
I found the PDF entry still set to TrPs, it was not updating as in older version.
I simply change the field to PDFCreator and TABLOID for the paper type field and the old project would now print.
See the image below to see the fields I changed. (it was identical to the default, the software simply seems to not change over. You may wish to change the Default to TrPDF instead of TrPs (look at other project DB's to check this.)
