Win 10 SW2016 SP4
I want 1 and only 1 display state in my parts and assemblies. My files have hundreds of configurations and Solidworks is continuously creating new display states when exiting the design table or when activating different configurations.
How do I prevent this from happening?
Change it in the template...
"Right click on a display state, properties, uncheck "Link display states to configurations"
Then you can delete all but 1 of the display states."
Thanks, the box is unchecked and always has been before creating new configurations. Must be something unique about these files. Deleting the Display States works until they come back. Sometimes this happens when I exit the design table (I'm in out of DT all the time. Other times they get recreated when I select different configurations. Display States with 100's of configurations have been quirky since first introduced.
Check your appearances or material settings. This can have something to do why your display states change.
I've see that before. Just a tip.
What do I look for when checking appearances or material settings?
I can't tell you exactly how it works but it has to do if you have appearances set in your material setting combined with configurations...can't really explain further...I think I've seen some code here in the forum that deletes all display states....maybe that can help you
Would you mind sharing one file (you might make a dummy model) to see the issue. Could it be something in the DT that is triggering that box?

To make this easier in the future on new parts, make that change BEFORE creating all the configs.
