I'm looking to buy a new Dell Precision 7510 laptop. Which card would be better, AMD FirePro W5170M w/2GB GDDR5 or Nvidia® Quadro M2000M w/4GB GDDR5?
Edit: Both cards are SW certified, the Nvidia is about $300 more.
I'm by no means a video card guru, so free bump to the top for someone who may be ...
However, the most important question always seems to be which cards are supported. They both come up on the SW site as supported and passing all tests, so all is good there. Over and above that, RAM wins. More is typically better.
So my vote would be the Nvidia® Quadro
There are many discussions about NVIDA vs AMD pro/con - you can search here
I only use NVIDIA since starting model parts in 3D without major issue and my vote NVIDIA (make sure it's SW certified card)
i'm a quadro user since many people says NVIDA is better than AMD but i bought my precision 7710 with Fire pro W7170M and i'm very impressed, but between your choice ill go with the quadro M2000M it has higher pipilines, memory, and Mhz
As others have stated always opt for the SolidWorks certified cards. After that you could look here, http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/, to compare your choices.
