Whenever I try opening a new project or load a new assembly into Composer I get a error stating:
LitInteropSWCOM : Asked version of SOLIDWORKS : 2015 not found
If i had to guess its because your converter is trying to access Solidworks 2015. If you don't have Solidworks 2016 on your machine it won't work. Solidworks is not backwards compatible so a 2015 converter won't open 2016 files. If you do have 2016 on your computer just update your Converter to pull from 2016 not 2015.
can you tell me how I can update the converter to pull from 2016? Can't find it in the options!
All you have to do is make sure your Solidworks Converter is the same version as your Solidworks. This will not be in Solidworks Composer since it's a Solidworks add-in. If you are on subscription and you should be able to download the add in from the customer portal. The only reason I can see this being an issue is if you run more than one version of Solidworks on your machine.
In the original post what I believe was happening is he upgraded to 2016 and did not install the converter when doing so. This will cause the converter to look for version 2015 that is no longer on the machine thus giving you an error.
Use this option for setting Converter to use Solidworks 2016.
