Converted a step file to a part file, designed a fixture for the part, now when i delete the part to leave just the fixture, everything wants to delete.
Any insight? When i go to hide the part the fixture disappears. same for the suppress.

Instead of delete the part, simply hide the body.
It seems like you have dependencies between the part and the fixture, like points in fixture sketches that snap to part edges. You can right click the fixture and select Parent/Child to see the dependencies.
There is an option to delete features without deleting the dependencies. It's in the window that you confirm the delete in.
I would rather not delete the original part, but when i try to hide or make it disappear, the fixture disappears with it.
Make sure that each feature of your fixture that touches the part is not merged with the part (edit the feature and clear the the 'Merge' checkbox). You want the fixture body to be separate from the part body so that you can hide the part body without hiding the fixture body.
As Deepak Gupta said, Delete the body. That will create a new feature at the bottom of the tree, so anything done earlier shouldn't be affected.
You can use delete bodies and delete the unwanted body. This will not break any relation and would keep that body into memory whenever you need to modify the fixture features.
When I try to hide the solids in red, the original fixture disappears.

Open the Solid Bodies folder and delete from there.
Expend folder "Solid Bodies":
and hide bodies you want to hide here.
