Orientation during sketch

When I create a sketch on a surface, Solidworks decides how to orient the part while I sketch. Of course it has a reason for its particular choice of orientation, but it does not ask me if I care how it is oriented and it seems arbitrary.

For what I do, I often do care about the orientation during sketch mode, it affects my design approach, and I often don't like the orientation that Solidworks chooses for me.  How may I tell Solidworks which direction to orient the sketch, rather than the other way around?

ProE always asks you in advance for an orientation before your sketch mode begins.  Can Solidworks do this?  Or we always at the mercy of the arbitrariness of its choice?
