I am attempting to run a study on 2 parts clamped together using special fastenings, and i'm interested in ways of applying an axial preload to the fastenings.

I've tried using a drop in temperature to give the preload which I believe is a technique used in older FEA systems. When I run the study using standard connectors the reation force on the clamped part is roughly the sum of the pre-load. 4x M16 bolts with a axial preload of 46.6KN is this what would be expected? But I get different results from the special fixings?

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.
