Having used SolidWorks for a couple of years now, I am surprised I've never come up against this before. It was actually a post in another forum that got me thinking about it. I almost told the guy there that the solution to his problem was just a table-driven pattern of planes. Super easy until I tried it and realized that you can't use any reference geometry as a pattern seed in a part. It just won't select.
This is definitely not a bug, so an SPR isn't appropriate. But before I submit it as an ER, does anyone have any insight as to some technical or feasibility reason why this should not be possible? Why would they deliberately exclude reference geometry as seeds for patterns?
