I need something I believe should be very simple to do. How do you show simplified external thread? My boss showed me some things but it's a crappie way, and not right way, to show the threads
Insert annotations --> cosmetic thread??
You only need to show two lines indicating OD and ID, with the thread callout. There isn't really a need to show actual threads. Although some people think there is a need because they don't understand a simplified thread view.
No need for actual thread. I'm looking for where it puts it on for you automatically. I'm accustom to adding it to the 3D model, then update the 2D, simplified will show up. You can also choose the thread with the call out and it will tell you the size. nothing to big...
Depends on which CAD software you use. I use SolidWorks, the thread data can be auto populated on the drawing from the model thread data.
Thanks Craig Schultz. Knew it was something simple...:) Now how do you call the thread out in 2D? Hole Callout? That seams not work
Fill in this part under the cosmetic thread property
Then it should show up in the drawing
If it doesn't show.... RMB on the cosmetic thread and "Insert Callout"
Mine is greyed out
Click the arrow....It's hiding on you
.....is that on the drawing side of it, or the model?
Model. I choose the arrow and nothing happens. I accept the thread. I go back in and this appears. I still can't type in it. Far as I know you can't edit in the drawing
Try changing the "standard" to none. I think it might be because you have a standard size in there. You should be able to edit if it's custom. (Most of our threads)
Yep that's it
Ok got that to work. Little concerned you have to input the thread size instead of it being driven by the model. You can change the note and the model doesn't mach. anywho, If the note get's deleted, how do you reapply it?
You could probably link it through a design table to pull the correct size call out through a list.
You'd reapply it with the "insert callout"
