How do i simply scale a part in Solidworks?
I want to double the size of a part, isn't there a simple SCALE command that will do this, like in Autocad, or is there another tedious work around for this command too?
Thanks for any insight.
Great that you found it.
I have used the scale feature on a limited bases in the past and wouldn't recommend that you use it for any part in an assembly, it's really a pain to edit that part in an assembly if it's scaled and you would need to change features above the scale feature. It is best to do a save as another component and then change all the dimensions etc.... - There is one exception - a purchase component or a solid model that has no features such as an iges or step file, then you could easily scale it to fit your needs..
my apologies, i found it!
Thanks for the info!
I have found that you cant scale an assembly, only each part file only. And you are right, as when i scaled a part of the assembly, then tried to manipulate in the assembly, i get an error.
So i will save as, then change the actual dimension parameters and reinsert it.
Better to use the ModelRescaler macro from Lenny's SolidWorks Resources
It changes all the dimensions automagically.
Automagically - lol - learned a new word today - our internet settings don't allow us to visit blog sites, could you upload it here??
