I have 1 seat of Solidworks on a workstation in my office. Under that licence can I also use it out of the office on my laptop?
If you have your license on a 'network server' you can borrow the license and use it on the laptop. I do it all the time. Of course, if you have only one license then you won't have it available for the desktop.
Solidworks > Tools > License Manager
If you own an individual license, you can transfer license between the two
If it is a standalone license you can install and activate it on the primary computer and another as a backup provided it will not be used at the same time. Also, for the standalone license, the backup is supposed to only be used 20% of the total time.
This is for US versions, I do not know about others.
Thanks for this Jeff.
This solution would suit me fine.
I am in UK. Do you know who I should approach to arrange this very useful facility. Is it via the Solidworks website or via local providers?
I would definitely check with your VAR (the company from whom you obtained SW)
