Hi guys,
I need to create holes in the large bar based off the hole pattern of this case I have. I need those holes to be a certain distance away from the highlighted edges of the bar. I tried doing all manner of dimensioning (including distance mates) and it does not work (it just says something about Annotation view or gives an error).
Another view:
What, if possible, is the correct way to do this? Keep in mind, I must also make extruded cuts into the bar based off the smaller rectangular area in the case later on.
Thanks. Please let me know what other details you need.
Hi Sam ,
Welcome to the Forums!
this can done through in-context modeling or "Top down design" , we can edit the part in-context and add relationships from other parts in the assembly.
see the attached video for an example
EDIT : I am also noticing you have chamfered sides to the part as well so not sure if it was the modeling that was the issue of the mating. to mate it I would have probably used a parallel mat to the surface of the plate and used distance mates from the edges of the part.
