I am trying to create a structural member on a splined curve , SW will not let you select the splined curve to sweep the member on. is there a way to do this that i am not aware of?
You can open the .sldlfp file, copy the sketch, paste it into the Part with the spline sketch, and do a conventional Swept Boss/Base. This of course won't generate the cut list properties, but I don't know of any other way. Maybe someone else will.
Yea , thanks i tried this already and it will work , the problem is like you said cut list won't be correct (not a huge problem) but the main problem is the sweep generates the shape with all the different surfaces of the sweep as one surface so it is impossible to mate other parts to any one surface
You can add a 3D sketch and add mating points or planes etc...
There's an enhancement request for this already. Go add yourself to it.
nope doesn't work.
I think the commands in weldments look at real life situations and making a tube following a spline is not so simple (especially when you have to make two identical ones). The sweep is the only possiblity
How it looks like, it will not be possible in 2017 as well.
